Bruce Holt -- a long-time sales, marketing and PR executive at premium rodmaker G. Loomis -- is the company's new executive director. He replaces former president Toyo Shimano as G. Loomis' top dog.

"The ideas, visions and foundation necessary for the future success of G. Loomis have become a permanent part of the company," Shimano said. "With Bruce's extensive knowledge of the business, G. Loomis will continue to be an industry leader."

Holt "has a true love for the company, the products and our customers," Shimano added. "His experience and the staff he has on board leaves G. Loomis in excellent hands."

> The G. Loomis press release states that Holt is "an avid angler with casting, spinning and fly rods" -- which is true, but Holt also is a diehard bass fisherman. BassFans might recognize him from the numerous shows he's attended touting the unparalleled sensitivity and lightness of G. Loomis rods.

> Shimano will continue in a new position with Shimano Inc., G. Loomis' parent company. Shimano Inc. purchased Woodland, Wash.-based G. Loomis a few years ago.
