Mechanical issue derails Meyer's journey

Cody Meyer is at home in Northern California this week instead of competing in the Toyota Texas Bass Classic at Lake Conroe. He began the journey to Conroe last Friday, but had to call it off after about 100 miles – still 1,500 miles short of his destination.

"I had truck problems," he said. "I have a high-mileage vehicle that I was trying to sell, and the transmission went out. It started before I even got to Reno (Nev.).

"I don't know what I could've done – it's 1,600 miles each way. I just had to bail out. It would've been different if it wasn't such a long drive."

Meyer qualified for the TTBC by finishing 5th in this year's FLW Tour Angler of the Year race.
