Rapala pro staff update

Brian Bredenberg has been hired as the new field promotions manager at Rapala, the company announced today. Beginning November 14, Bredenberg will manage all pro-staff operations and endorsements and will serve as a point of contact for industry representatives.

Bredenberg replaces David James, who according to Rapala is no longer with the company. James previously served under the joint title of field promotions and media relations manager.

"Fishing and spending time outdoors have been a passion since I can remember," said Bredenberg. "I'm very excited to be joining the Rapala organization and I look forward to jumping into my new role."

Said Rapala USA president Tom Mackin: "As an experienced sales and marketing leader and outdoor enthusiast, Brian brings a wealth of in-depth knowledge to the company. We're thrilled to have him on board."

In additional Rapala news, legend Larry Nixon is no longer associated with the company. According to Nixon, he was cut from the pro staff after he declined to endorse Rapala's Trigger X soft plastics, which would have been in conflict with his longstanding Berkley contract.

"They let me go," Nixon told BassFan. "This has happened to me about five times over my career, when a company straddles the fence. Rapala came out with soft-plastics, but I've been with Berkley since 1983 and I chose to stay where I'm at."
