FLW Outdoors operations-division president Kathy Fennel clarified the new FLW Tour rule noted yesterday – the one that covers finals days and states, "No additional marine electronics, marine/automotive batteries or generators may be installed or used in FLW Outdoors supplied boats."
Fennel clarified that handheld GPS units may be brought aboard and used, as well as HydroWave fish-activation units.
"The language was added to our rules primarily for safety concerns related to carrying extra marine/automotive batteries and/or generators in boats that we supply," Fennel noted. "It also adds an extra layer of protection to our exclusive marine-electronics sponsorship category.
"We do not classify the HydroWave Fish Activation System as marine electronics (and) the new rule does not apply to handheld GPS devices," she added.
