David Walker, winner of the final regular-season Bassmaster Elite Series event at Lake Wheeler, has pledged $10,000 to the Ryan Newman Foundation if he's one of the four anglers voted into the Toyota Trucks All-Star Series and wins the event.
The foundation, started and run by NASCAR driver Ryan Newman, encourages the spaying/neutering of pets, the adoption of dogs and cats from animal shelters and the education of children about outdoor conservation. The announcement of Walker's pledge is on Newman's website (www.ryannewman.org) and on his Facebook page.
"I met Ryan and Tony Stewart at the tournament at Lake Norman to raise money for his foundation," Walker said. "I contacted him through a mutual friend to see if he'd be interested in this and he thought it was a cool deal."
Voting for the All-Star Series continues through Sunday at Bassmaster.com, and the four winners will be announced Wednesday at the ICAST show in Las Vegas. Fans can vote once a day.
