Yamaha announced this week a design change for its 3.3L F200/F225 motors. Foremost, the redesigned V6 models will now use the same powerhead that drives the 3.3L F250.
The redesign also adds Variable Camshaft Timing, which the company said will boost low- and mid-rpm ranges (via exhaust efficiency) and thus lend more torque to the 2,000 to 3,500 rpm range. A few other redesign differences:
> A single throttle valve that precisely controls the airflow through the long tube intake tracks. Benefit: Better fuel economy and acceleration.
> A new flywheel with rubber dampener to reduce engine vibration. Also available: Shift Dampener System propellers.
> A new look that "complements the latest boat designs and brings Yamaha's entire line together."
