CP, Kreiger happenings

Interesting news from buddies and travel partners Koby Kreiger (left) and Craig Powers: Both signed their own deal with different bait companies to design signature baits. And as previously reported, both will return to tour-level fishing this year. The two have earned storied places in the sport. Powers is regarded as one of the most accurate casters on either tour, while Kreiger is regarded as one of the best sight-fishermen in the sport. Many peers consider them to be the best in their respective specialties.

Powers has been marketing his own homemade CP Series crankbaits this year at CPBaits.com. But now, CP Series cranks are marketed through tackle company Mystic Tackleworks. Industry veteran Howard Hammonds is president of Mystic and Hammonds not only markets the baits for Powers, but signed Powers to the Attraxx pro-staff and made him pro-staff manager. (Attraxx is owned by Mystic.)

Attraxx is a new, bio-engineered series of softbaits with patented Sci-X feeding stimulant, which was created by Dr. John Caprio of Louisiana State University. The Attraxx pro-staff currently boasts several tour-level pros in addition to Powers, including Randall Tharp, Greg Pugh, Jacob Powroznik and Ramie Colson, Jr.

Kreiger, meanwhile, signed what he said is "a very important deal" with upstart company Ouzo baits. Debi Duplechain serves as president of Ouzo, and according to Kreiger, he'll be designing some sight-fishing baits for Ouzo.

In fact, Kreiger's Uozo sponsorship, along with additional new sponsor RMC BoatWorks, helped him return to tour-level fishing this year.
