PAA announcement: 2011 details

The PAA today released details for its 2011 PAA Tournament Series, again title-sponsored by Bass Pro Shops and presented by Carrot Stix. There's an interesting change. The Tournament Series next year will encompass three events, alongside a fourth event billed as the All-Star Series. Former PAA president John Crews announced a while back that an All-Star Series was a primary goal, and 2011 will be the All-Star's first year.

The no-entry-fee All-Star Series event will draw its field from the 2010 PAA Tournament Series season. Also invited will be the 2010 Bassmaster Classic and Forrest Wood Cup champs, as well as the 2010 B.A.S.S. and FLW Tour Anglers of the Year.

For the Tournament Series itself, entry fees remain unchanged at $2,500 per event and registration opens Dec. 13. Purses include cash plus a new Nitro Z-8 rigged with a Mercury 225 OptiMax. Final-daw weigh-ins will take place at adjacent Bass Pro Shops. Points standings will determine Toyota Texas Bass Classic qualification.

In announcing the schedule, PAA president Chad Morgenthaler noted: "We've tried our best to accommodate anglers' needs and at the same time select locations that are as popular as possible. I believe we have a good handle on that in 2011 and look forward to continuing to work toward going to the best fisheries the nation has to offer as the time allows us. I'm excited about next year's schedule. We're hitting the lakes at awfully good times. It'll still show the diversity of the field due to the tournaments not being all in spring, summer or autumn. We're spread out and should see some great tournaments."
