BassFans know all about Kevin VanDam's Elite Treble from Mustad – the hook that won this year's Bassmaster Classic – but KVD's newest Mustad design was unveiled to the public today.
It's called the Ultra Point Grip-Pin hook and it features an integrated welded pin to securely anchor a bait without tearing. The hook design also features an extra wide gap and a precise point-to-eye angle for better hookup ratios.
VanDam noted: "This finally solves a big problem we've all had with traditional soft-plastic hook designs. It's easy to rig and the baits don't slide down the shank. I've noticed the welded pin also keeps baits from tearing, helping to extend the use of soft plastics and saving money."
Available sizes will run from 2/0 to 6/0 in a black nickel finish.

Side note: If VanDam were a Harry Potter fan, he might have argued for the name to be Griphook, in honor of the goblin who helped orchestrate the Gringotts break-in.
