NRX lands this Friday

Here's an interesting take on a new-product launch. G. Loomis this week will launch one of its most important new products in about a decade – NRX rods, which won the Overall Best of Show award at this year's ICAST industry tradeshow.

Rather than ship the rods en masse to every retailer in the nation, G. Loomis is letting certain dealers get the rods first. The idea is to generate foot traffic in dealerships and help convince anglers to touch and feel the exciting new product.

The NRX rods will first go on sale at 8 p.m. local time this Friday (Aug. 13).

What's so revolutionary about the NRX rods? Well, if you like GLX, consider that an NRX is reportedly up to 15% lighter, but at the same time up to 20% stronger and more impact-resistant than a comparable GLX. It gets its new strength by using a nano-silica resin in combination with the legendary Loomis graphite.

G. Loomis chief rod designer Steve Rajeff noted that, in addition to the ultra-high-tech blanks, "We bring the best in components – from reel seats, grips and guides – specific for the bass rods and fly rods. At G. Loomis, we've never settled for just good enough. These NRX rods are the best at every level in terms of graphite, resins and components to provide anglers with the most dynamic, lightweight and sensitive rods we've ever made."

G. Loomis brand manager Justin Poe noted: "By utilizing a stiffer, lighter and higher-density carbon married with Nano Silica resin systems, we can provide Steve and his design team with a material that provides all kinds of positive benefits to anglers. The rods are lighter, yet more durable, extremely sensitive, and yet stiffer. Obviously we simply think they're the best rods out there."

MSRP for the NRX series ranges from $450 to $500. As they say, you get what you pay for.
