Weyer wins Columbia

Charlie Weyer, a former BASS and FLW tour pro from West Hills, Calif., caught 9-04 on day 4 of the Columbia River Western FLW Series to win the event by a little less than 4 pounds.

He fished a crowded area, shared by runner-up Clayton Meyer of San Diego. "Jason Hickey was there in the same spot as well," Weyer said. "So was Gabe Bolivar and Mike Knight. Hickey's a much better smallmouth fisherman than I am. I really thought he was going to be a strong contender in this one. But I just got lucky and caught the right fish, I guess."

The full details of his winning pattern will be posted soon. Below is a look at the final Top 10, followed by the Top 30 in the Western points standings. One event remains (Clear Lake), after which the Top 30 in the final points standings will qualify for the East/West Fish-Off, where 30 pros will advance to the 2008 Forrest Wood Cup. An asterisk indicates active tour pros.
