A Power-Pole – basically a powered pole-type anchor mounted on the stern – is required equipment on inshore saltwater tournament boats, and is gradually becoming an accessory on tournament bass boats. Why?
Two examples:
> Bed-fishing – If you need to hold your position and don't want to use a trolling motor, you can just Power-Pole down (yes, "Power-Pole" is a verb now) and you're good to go.
> Fishing docks – If you want to make multiple casts to the same dock without moving or using the trolling motor to offset a breeze, you can Power-Pole down and fish. If you want to change your angle of attack a little, just move the boat then Power-Pole down again.
