Earlier this week, BassFan reported that BASS would scrap its current Bassmaster Northern and Southern Tours next year, and reinstate the Central and Southern Opens. More information is now available concerning the Opens, including dates (but not sites), and cut information. First, here's a look at the schedule.
Southern Opens
> March 1-3
> May 10-12
> Oct. 18-20
Central Opens
> March 15-17
> June 14-16
> Sept. 27-29
Any anglers also wishing to fish the Stren Series should note one date overlap: the March 1-3 Southern Open overlaps the Bull Shoals Central Stren. Other than that, the dates don't conflict.
As previously noted, the Top 3 in each Open division qualify for the 2008 Bassmaster Classic, and the Top 5 qualify to fish the 2008 Elite Series. Those who don't qualify but still wish to fish the Elite Series can enter the Wildcard Qualifier for a $1,000 entry fee.
