More details of next year's PAA event at Lake Fork, Texas have been confirmed. As noted previously, Toyota is the title sponsor, and the event will observe Fork's restrictive slot limit. Approximately 160 pros – who are members of the PAA – will compete within a team format. Here's a quick look at the vital details:
- The event will take place April 9–15.
- The total purse will be $1 million.
- The event will benefit the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and its outdoor-recreation programs.
- It's planned as an annual event and is officially titled the Toyota Texas Bass Classic.
- Country-music artist Clay Walker will be the headline entertainer (performing April 15), with multiple supporting acts performing throughout the week.
- The TPWD Inland Fisheries division will provide technical assistance and support, while the PAA will oversee rules, officials and entry qualifications.
- There will be no entry fee.
- An official observer will be assigned to each competitor's boat to measure and record each fish caught. The fish will be assigned point values for tabulation. After measurement, the fish will be returned to the lake immediately in observance of slot-limit restrictions. That means the event will not have live fish at the weigh-in – a concept first tested at the tour level at the 2005 Cabela's Top Gun Championship, which also took place in Texas.
