Video game maker adds Martin as ambassador

Former FLW Tour Angler of the Year and 2011 Forrest Wood Cup winner Scott Martin has signed on to be a brand ambassador for video game maker Dovetail Games in advance of the release of Fishing Sim World Pro Tour, an updated version of the Fishing Sim World video game that is already available on multiple platforms.

The new version, which will allow users to compete against Martin at virtual versions of well-known fisheries like Lake Guntersville and Lake Travis, will be available in July for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam users. The update will be free for existing Fishing Sim World players.

Martin and 28 other current FLW Tour, Elite Series and Bass Pro Tour anglers will have their names and likenesses included in the game as part of the update. Dovetail Games, whose other game franchises include Train Sim World and Microsoft Flight Simulator X, is based outside of London, England.

“We pride ourselves on the authenticity of the game,” said Darren Nokes, brand manager for Dovetail Games. “We want it to work more like a simulation than an arcade experience.”

“I met them at ICAST last year and they knew what they were doing,” Martin said. “I thought it was really cool. I think they’re excited about the opportunity to work with me. I think I can provide them guidance on continuity and aspects of the game play and through my platforms offer a bridge into the younger demographic.”

Among the new game features to be included in the update are:

> Career mode: Anglers can select a target species (bass, carp or predator) and rise through the competitive ranks while negotiating virtual sponsorships and building a social media following.

> Custom multiplayer: Compete against friends online.

> Online tournaments: Players compete in the Dovetail Fishing League and vie for the Angler of the Month award.
