Sabine flooding pushes Elite Series back a day

Practice for the Sabine River Elite Series will not begin until Wednesday, April 3, one day later than originally scheduled due to flooded conditions around the Orange, Texas, area.

Elite Series anglers were alerted to the schedule change by B.A.S.S. Thursday afternoon.

"We have conferred with authorities there to get the best information and forecasts we can," a B.A.S.S. email to anglers read. "River levels are predicted to crest along the Sabine and Neches sometime tomorrow or Saturday depending on the location. We will continue to monitor and talk to authorities making a decision regarding the event no later than noon central Monday. If conditions are not favorable we will look at later dates to have this event."

The tournament days, which were originally scheduled to be April 6-9 – already pushed back a day due to the Easter holiday – will now be April 7-10 with the final day of competition taking place on a Tuesday.
