Report: Couple charged in theft of vendor trailer

A husband and wife were arrested on Monday and charged with multiple crimes in connection with the theft of a vendor trailer in Greenville, S.C., last week for the Bassmaster Classic.

According to a report on WSPA, the CBS affiliate in Greenville, Jerry McCauley and Tabitha McCauley were arrested after they were found sleeping in an SUV in a Greenville parking lot on March 19. The SUV matched the description of the vehicle involved in the theft of a trailer belonging to ReelSnot, a Delaware-based maker of reel lubricant.

The trailer was stolen from the parking lot of a Hampton Inn in Greenville prior to the Classic and was later recovered with the contents missing. According to other local media reports, the contents, which included ReelSnot lubricant and branded merchandise, were valued at nearly $200,000.

According to the report, the couple was charged with grand larceny, criminal conspiracy, malicious damage to personal property and possession of tools capable of being used in crime. Additionally, Jerry McCauley is facing charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen tag, possession of a controlled narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia and was cited for failure to stop for police after he was identified as the driver of the vehicle that fled from officers on March 15.
