Jay Kendrick walloped a 31-05 stringer at Lake Guntersville today to win the Southeast Rayovac Series there with a three-day total of 83-07.
He overtook day-2 leader Joe Hall, who settled for 2nd with 77-06. FLW Tour pros Bryan Thrift and Mark Rose were 3rd and 4th, respectively, while day-1 leader Cameron Gautney rounded out the top 5 with 70-07.
Kendrick fooled most of his fish with a custom-poured 8-inch swimbait made by Scottsboro Tackle Company and he concentrated on turns in creek ditches where big gizzard shad were present.
“You can’t plan to bring in a 31-pound bag of fish like that,” said Kendrick. “Sometimes, it just happens. I couldn’t be happier.”
