Included in today's Fishing Wire was word that Tohatsu America Corp (TAC), which distributes the Tohatsu and Nissan brands of outboards in North America, said that Nissan Marine will discontinue production of its boats and outboard lines.
TAC said that the Tohatsu outboard line would not be impacted by the decision. The sale of new Nissan Marine engines would be terminated after existing inventory is depleted. TAC would continue to provide service and support for remaining Nissan Marine engines in the marketplace.
The company cited a declining Japanese market for pleasure boats as the reason to stop production of Nissan Marine boats and outboards worldwide.
