For the second time in recent weeks, the topic of bass fishing has found its way onto the pages of the New York Times. First, it was a story about the rise in popularity of college fishing and how its competition model is able to work outside the supervision of the NCAA.
Today, the umbrella rig is featured in a piece about Andy Poss and his creation as well as the decision by B.A.S.S. and FLW to ban the rig from tournament competition.
Noteworthy tidbits from the article: Poss' licensing contract with Mann's recently expired and he's now working with Swampers Lure Company on refining the design at a lower price point.
