FLW shifts Chickamauga to avoid conflict

FLW Outdoors announced today that it has moved the Lake Chickamauga FLW Tour event, originally scheduled for June 4-7, 2015, back a week to alleviate a schedule conflict that arose when B.A.S.S. announced this week that its Bassmaster Elite Series BASSFest tournament would be at Kentucky Lake the same week.

The new dates of the Chickamauga tournament are June 11-14, 2015.

“Every year we strive to work with our counterparts at B.A.S.S. to avoid conflicts whenever possible,” said Kathy Fennel, president of FLW Operations. “Fortunately, we were able to work out new dates with the Rhea Economic and Tourism Council as host of the 2015 Walmart FLW Tour stop on Lake Chickamauga so that pros competing on the FLW Tour and Elite Series can continue to fish both circuits in the hope of qualifying for the sport’s two premier events – the Forrest Wood Cup and Bassmaster Classic.”

As Fennel noted, the rescheduling now clears the way for Elite Series anglers to also fish the FLW Tour – 14 pros fished both circuits this season. Next year will mark the third straight season in which both tournament circuits didn't schedule tour-level events on top of each other.

This is the second straight year FLW has made an alteration to its Tour schedule after its initial announcement. Last year, it moved its Kentucky Lake event to mid June so it didn't conflict with the Toyota Texas Bass Classic at Lake Fork in May.
