U.S. Open: 93 early birds

U.S. Open: 93 early birds

WON Bass tournament director Billy Egan confirmed today that 93 pro anglers signed up to fish the U.S. Open during the early registration period, which concluded July 31 – an increase of about 40 percent over last year. The 31st annual event will take place Sept. 9-11 at Nevada's Lake Mead.

This year's list of participants includes Rick Clunn, Aaron Martens, Byron Velvick, Gary Dobyns, John Murray, Cliff Pirch, Randy Blaukat, Mike Folkestad and Brett Hite. The winner receives $50,000 cash, plus a new Nitro boat package.

Registration continues through Aug. 31. To sign up online, go to www.WONews.com and find the form under the Events tab. An entry form can also be downloaded from www.WONBass.com. For phone entries, call (949) 366-0030, ext. 40 or ext. 38.
