BassFans previously heard from Edwin Evers that he'd run a modified Zephyr Travel System this year, and he'd use a Freightliner truck to pull it. The photos are now in, and check this out.
The Zephyr's 45 feet long and houses Evers' Nitro and just about every piece of tackle he owns. Also note the slick Optima Batteries sponsor graphics.
"To tell you the truth, I believed in the utility of this truck and trailer so much, that I sort of jumped off the deep end and bought the truck before Optima graciously agreed to be the primary sponsor," he said. "I asked the guys at Dynamic Sponsorships here in Oklahoma for help in designing the graphics package to make sure Optima got their money's worth. But they didn't just create a cool wrap – they made sure there was synergy between my truck, trailer, and boat, and all of my sponsors, when they designed the graphics package. I've had so much on my plate leading up to this Classic, I couldn't have pulled it off without their help."
The Freightliner Custom Chassis houses a 330 Mercedes diesel (read: mule), and the cab has a drop-down TV and fold-down sleeper.
"What I like most about the trailer is the ability to store and organize tackle and keep it secure," he added. "I've always camped, as opposed to staying in hotels, but a conventional RV isn't built for the life of a pro angler. This rig definitely is. It has two 24-foot-long cabinets that I've already filled with tackle-storage trays, line and extra rods. It's going to be so awesome to be able to back the boat in at the end of the day and have every piece of tackle I own at arm's reach. Plus, the ability to work and organize equipment for the next day in a dry and heated/air-conditioned environment simply adds to your overall performance on the water."
When Evers needs to launch his boat, he'll simply detach the Freightliner and use that. BassFans will be able to get a close-up look at the new rig at many of this year's Bassmaster Elite Series events.
