Jay Yelas - Practice

I've had a good practice. There are tons of fish here, but the key is finding those fish in the 4-pound range, and I think I've found lots of spots that seem to be holding fish that size.

I'm sticking to St. Clair. I'm too old to get out there on Erie. I swore off Erie in 1995. Erie can be so tough if that wind picks up. I don't think there are too many pros who have experience catching bass in 8-foot waves - me included. St. Clair definitely has more boats in it than last year. I think guys are figuring out that Erie isn't a piece of cake. It's got good fish, but sometimes it's just not worth it.

I'm having success by dropshotting Berkley Gulp! gobies, minnows and leeches. I'm using all three just to give the fish a different look on my spots. I agree with the consensus that these fish are still in their post-spawn phase, but there are some that are out deep on their summertime pattern. Those are the fish I'm on, and those are the type of fish that I think are going to win it.

If the wind doesn't blow too bad I should be able to get out there in the middle and work my fish. If I can do that then I think I have a good shot at making a Top 10.
