Horton's H.S. event to pay out 20 grand

The inaugural Timmy Horton High School Bass Anglers Challenge, set for May 18 at Pickwick Lake, will pay out $20,000 in scholarship money.

“We are thrilled with the support of this entire community in helping us with this event," said Colbert County Tourism and Convention Bureau executive director Susann Hamlin. "We anticipate anglers and their parents from all over the state will come to participate in this new fishing format that is directed toward creating a great opportunity for young fishing enthusiasts here in Alabama."

Added Horton: “This is going to be a great event on Pickwick Lake. What a thrill it is for me to be a part of an event that will help these kids continue their education. We are also going to do an essay contest based on conservation to go along with the fishing competition."
