Nick Adams, who helped launch the Lindy Tackle Company, died on Christmas Day at Essentia Health-St. Joeseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd, Minn., according to an obituary posted on the Brainerd (MN) Dispatch website. He was 81.
A resident of East Gull Lake, Minn., Adams partnered with brothers Al and Ron Lindner in 1968 to form Lindy and bring the Lindy Rig to market. It was a smashing success across the upper Midwest, especially among walleye anglers. According to the Lindy website, more than 40 million Lindy Rigs have been sold since its introduction.
Adams was a member of the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and the Fishing Hall of Fame of Minnesota. He is survived by wife, Idalene, and seven children, 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
