N.C. college to host Eaker seminar

The Gardner-Webb University Fishing Club will host "Stories and Fish Tales" with Bass Fishing Hall-of-Famer Guy Eaker on Oct. 11 at the Boiling Springs, N.C. campus. The event is a fund-raiser in the club's quest to purchase a bass boat.

The event, presented by Abu Garcia and Berkley, is free and open to the public. Numerous prizes will be distributed via raffle and dinner will be provided courtesy of Bojangles. The event is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. in Stewart Hall, which is located in the new Tucker Student Center.

Eaker will share stories from his long professional career, from fishing in foreign countries such as Cuba and Mexico and from sharing a day on the lake with former U.S. presidents. He'll also provide fishing tips for all levels of anglers.

Proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets will go toward purchase of a boat. Tickets will be available for $5 each, five for $20 or 15 for $50 and prizes include an Abu Garcia Revo MGX reel, Minn Koto Traxxis 45 trolling motor, two guided fishing trips, a custom Gardner-Webb Fishing Club jersey and a Wright & McGill Rick Clunn Signature Series rod.
