BassFans have witnessed the rise of competitive bass fishing at the collegiate and high school levels in recent years, and a couple of occurrences this week bear witness to its progress.
Bass fishing was No. 1 on the list of "10 unusual sanctioned high school sports" in a piece published by MaxPreps.com, the nationwide leader in the coverage of high school sports. At Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, an actual pep rally will take place today as three teams from the school prepare to compete in the Central Conference Championship at Lake Carlyle.
