Jason Christie will get to spend some fishing around home next February after he won the Detroit River Bassmaster Northern Open with a 3-day total of 67-04.
His 22-13 catch today was the best of the final 12 anglers and allowed him to win by nearly 2 pounds over Brian Ward, who finished with 65-09. Andrew Upshaw finished 3rd with 63-14.
The win is Christie’s first in a B.A.S.S. event, but more importantly the Park Hill, Okla., native clinched a spot in next year’s Bassmaster Classic, slated to be held in February at Grand Lake – his home water back in Oklahoma.
