Former Elite Series pro Bradley Hallman of Oklahoma took over the lead at the ultra-tough Lewisville Bassmaster Central Open in Texas. He caught a 15-08 sack for a 2-day total 20-04.
“I'm fishing shallow and covering a lot of water,” he said. “There are definitely pre-spawn staging fish here. They're really winter fish more than anything, though.”
Day-1 leader Brad Lankford blanked today, yet only dropped to 2nd place with 18-01.
“I just couldn’t get the fish to go today,” he said. “The wind was really brutal on me, and I stayed in it all day. Then my trolling motor died about 2:15. It was just one of those things – I couldn’t get them to bite, and I was too pigheaded to leave my spot.”
Josh Bertrand also zeroed and dropped from 2nd to 3rd with 18 pounds. Elite Series pro Terry Butcher jumped into 4th place with 16-04 and Mike McClelland, another Elite Series angler, moved into fifth with 13-06.
