B.A.S.S. founder Ray Scott has agreed to act as official spokesman for American Bass Anglers (ABA), the largest tournament trail dedicated to the weekend angler. ABA President Morris Sheehan made the announcement at the recent American Fishing Tournament AOY/National Championship Banquet at Lake Murray.

“It’s like going home,” Scott said. “The enthusiasm and camaraderie reminds me so much of the early days of B.A.S.S. The grassroots anglers are the foundation of our sport."

The ABA was originally founded for military bass fishermen in 1975 and was called Military Bass Anglers Association (MBAA). In the early '90s, non-military anglers were allowed to join and the organization grew rapidly. It's dedicated to providing a nationwide bass fishing circuit with low entry-fee tournaments.

“It’s a great formula,” said Scott, “and their tournaments are extremely well-run. The ABA staff is outstanding.”
