Angler of the Year (AOY) Todd Auten heads a list of 15 PAA Tournament Series anglers who received invitations to compete in the Toyota Texas Bass Classic in late October at Lake Conroe in Texas. The Top 15 from the Bassmaster Elite Series and FLW Tour points lists have also been invited.
Defending champion Brian Snowden and four sponsor invitees will round out the 50-angler field. The tournament will be conducted Oct. 28-30.
“We’re treated like professional golfers when we’re there,” said Auten. “I think the TTBC is run very well and very professionally.
“It’s a different kind of tournament. I wouldn’t say that it’s low-key, but it’s fun and comfortable fishing that kind of tournament. You qualify to get into it, there’s no entry fee and everyone in it wants to win. It’s a fun week and competitive event.”
Others who qualified via the PAA events were Mike McClelland, Takahiro Omori, Chad Morgenthaler, Gary Yamamoto, Derek Remitz, Tommy Biffle, Terry Butcher, Cody Bird, Brian Travis, Chris Brasher, Shane Long, Gary Clouse, James Watson and Harold Allen.
Steve Kennedy, the winner of last week's PAA season finale at Lake Neely Henry, had already secured a TTBC berth via his 5th-place finish in the Elite Series points. To see the final Elite Series and FLW Tour lists, click here.
