New Duckett series

Duckett Fishing's new White Ice rod series garnered some attention at the recent ICAST show in Las Vegas. It consists of 18 models, all designed by the company's pro staff and all equipped with heavy-duty micro-guides.

"They're rods that are designed to enhance the well-known fishing styles of our pros," said 2007 Bassmaster Classic champion and company president Boyd Duckett. "We've got everything from Kelly Jordon's new big-spoon rod down to dropshot and shakey-head rods. We wanted rods that weren't just another designer's product. This series is pro-built and the rods are what we think are perfect for our applications."

There's a 7'8" double extra-heavy mat-punching rod developed by Terry Scroggins and two models designed by Byron Velvick for smaller and medium-sized swimbaits. Tim Horton chipped in with a couple of cranking rods and there are other designs from Duckett, Jason Williamson and Pete Ponds.

Those familiar with the Duckett Micro-Magic price points might be a bit taken back by the White Ice numbers – they'll retail at $239.

"We've partnered with American Tackle on our guides, and they've built a super heavy-duty micro-guide that we're launching on this series. This price point gives me the ability to do some things we couldn't do in the Micro-Magic. For instance, using carbon fiber – you can't do that at a price point lower than that."

The rods are scheduled to be available this fall.
