There's been a ton of hype over at Quantum over the past month for what the company calls one of its biggest product launches ever. Quantum did an excellent job of keeping it all secret – even the Quantum pros were tight-lipped. But Quantum revealed all this morning when its new EXO microsite went live.
EXO is what Quantum terms its new line of products – short for "exoskeleton" technology. An exoskeleton is one of the strongest builds in nature – the best way add strength to a featherweight design – and Quantum uses that, along a blend of aluminum and composite to make some wicked-looking products.
One example is the EXO PT baitcaster that weighs in at an amazing 5.9 ounces. Another is the 7'6" heavy/fast EXO PT rod that weighs 4.84 ounces. Pair those two together and you're still under 11 ounces with aluminum in critical stress areas.
