Honoring the West

Honoring the West

Something pretty cool is cooking, and it'll all surround the WON Bass U.S. Open and the ICAST industry tradeshow, both of which will be held this summer in Las Vegas, Nev.

Essentially, there's a reunion and associated publication to honor Silver Eagles – those folks who were historically involved in the participation or promotion of tournament bass fishing in the western region, primarily California, Arizona and Nevada.

Included in the day's activities will be a Silver Eagles casting tournament (9:00 a.m., July 15), over $10,000 in fishing tackle donated by the trade for drawings and awards, a two-man golf scramble, a Texas hold-em tournament, slot tournament and blackjack tournament.

Additionally, Rich Holland is taking the lead in creating a Silver Eagles Tribute magazine, described as a "40-year history of the bass sports in the West." The one-time, 80-page, four-color publication will be distributed at ICAST, at the Silver Eagles dinner and throughout the industry in the western market. Supporting sponsor space is currently being sold (example pictured to right).

Another interesting media element: There'll be a slide presentation that features about 2,500 photos and news clips dating back to 1970. It'll show throughout the day in the Railhead room at the Boulder Station Hotel & Casino.
