New fishing comedy show

Mark April 2, 10:30 pm on your calendars. That's when the new docu-comedy Foul Hook'd premiers on Sportsman Channel. It's about four boneheads who search for the perfect host for their low-budget fishing show.

The show premiere is scheduled within Sportsman Channel's Strike & Set Saturday.

Here's a little more info about the show:

> It's a behind-the-scenes look into producing a fishing show and will reveal the lives of the "characters" who work behind the cameras.

> The show begins with the fishing show's producer, Jimmy Synder, who can no longer put up with office life. He decides to pursue the two things he loves most, TV and fishing, and throws everything away to secure his dream. The only problem is, everyone around him is hopeless and they can't find a host.

> A series of auditions and "cattle calls" over the season may prove that Jimmy's in over his head with this new adventure.

Show creator Tommy Caamano is a filmmaker focused on issues of culture and outdoor sports. His work has been recognized and juried in prominent festivals such as Crested Butte Film Festival and Black Point Film Festival. He's worked as a creative director for the past 10 years. His commercials have been recognized and awarded with several Addy and Telly Awards. In 2008 he earned a bronze Telly award for his commercial The Brass Rail.

"The tone of the show is best described as poignant humor with a touch of exaggeration to amplify the intended effect," Caamano said. "This project is communicating a unified chaos that surrounds every workplace but will reveal a new realm of observation. After seeing the show people will say, 'The show was funny,' 'I know people like that,' and 'I'm going fishing this weekend.' We're selling the idea that fishing and fun go together. That it's a way to break the everyday cycle with fresh air, thrill of the sport and a few laughs."

Sportsman Channel CEO Gavin Harvey noted: "This is a first for Sportsman Channel, but we couldn't be more excited to bring this show on board to complement our top-notch hunting, shooting and fishing programming. Our viewers will appreciate the satire of trying to produce a fishing show and the struggles producers face - beginning with finding the perfect on-air host."
