PAA drops late penalty

Due to the rising cost of gas prices and financial impacts on tournament anglers, the PAA will waive its registration late fee for its 2011 PAA Tournament Series events.

“Tournament anglers are facing more financial costs this season on all the circuits due to the increase in prices for gas and diesel fuel,” said PAA president Chad Morgenthaler. “We are waiving the tournament registration late fee as a goodwill gesture to help the pros experiencing these added costs for fuel at a time when entry fees and deposits are due for events.”

Anglers competing in PAA Tournament Series events this season may register without penalty until 5 p.m. CT on the final business day prior to the first official practice day of tournament week. Prospective competitors must have adhered to the 30-day off limits and no-information rules as outlined in the PAA's official tournament rules.

Competitors may register for PAA Tournament Series events without a late penalty through the following dates:

  • March 25 – for the Lake Lanier tournament; official tournament week practice begins Monday, March 28

  • June 17 – for the Table Rock tournament; official tournament week practice begins Monday, June 20

  • Aug. 12 – for the Neely Henry tournament; official tournament week practice begins Monday, Aug. 15

Tournament registration is required prior to 5 p.m. CT on those Friday dates. Registration or balance due monies will not be accepted during tournament week.

“Anglers are faced with many financial challenges as they pursue their careers, with costs for fuel and entry fees being foremost,” Morgenthaler said. “We believe waiving the late registration fee is a small but important step to help alleviate some of these challenges. Every little bit helps.”
