FLW Tour pro Shinichi Fukae and his wife Miyu awoke this morning in Chattanooga, Tenn. to learn of the devastation to their native Japan from yesterday's massive earthquake and resulting tsunami. Shin is practicing for next month's event at Lake Chickamauga.
"We feel terrible for the people," Miyu said. "Japan is just islands surrounded by water and that could happen anytime because it's so small. You can't do anything about what Mother Nature does."
The Fukaes are from the Osaka area, which is far to the south of where most of the devastation has occurred. However, Shin has relatives on his mother's side of the family who live near the country's eastern coastline, so there's some concern about their well-being.
"We just hope they can find the people who are missing and we pray for the souls of the ones who were killed," Shin said.
