Elite Series pro Casey Ashley will now officially throw Jewel jigs as part of a new sponsorship agreement with the company.
Jewel president Gayle Julian noted: "We've had a lot of anglers singing the praises of Jewel baits over our 20-plus years in this business, but Casey brings that meaning to a whole new level. He's an excellent angler who's really good with a jig rod in his hands and that makes him a perfect fit for our interests. We're pleased to welcome him to the team."
Ashley noted that he's long used Jewel jigs. In fact, he used the company's 7/16-ounce Eakins jig when he won Smith Mt. in 2007.
In other Ashley news, he's not fishing next month's Bassmaster Classic, but will still participate. He'll sing on the stage prior to Friday's weigh-in. Likely to be among his selections is "I am a Fisherman" – a song he recorded in 2008.
