FOM goes Skeeter/Yamaha

For the first time in its 13-year history, Fishers of Men is changing boat/motor sponsors. The organization has been with Triton since its inception and with Mercury for more than 10 years, but national director Al Odom announced this week that it's switching to Skeeter/Yamaha for 2011.

FOM will award six Skeeter/Yamaha packages to champions of various events next year.

"With recent changes in the landscape in the boating business, we felt like it was the right time for us to look at all of our options," Odom said. "Because of the strength of (Skeeter/Yamaha) and the quality and reputation of both their products and management, we didn’t have to look far.

"When senior vice president Bob Eads and myself made a list of companies we felt could help us continue to grow and develop as we move into our 14th year of ministry, Skeeter/Yamaha was right at the top. Fortunately I think that Jeff Stone, Ben Jarrett and JoAnne O’Bryant with Skeeter/Yamaha recognized what Fishers of Men could bring to the table when you take into consideration the 4,500-plus active members participating in over 300 separate events encompassing 26 states."

Odom expressed appreciation for FOM's former boat/motor partners.

“We owe a debt of gratitude to our friends at both Triton and Mercury for their long-standing support of our organization. Their support through the years has helped us develop a strong organization that has impacted thousands of lives. We wish them continued success in the future.”
