Montgomery goes Elites

A month and a half ago, 28-year-old South Carolina pro Andy Montgomery wasn't sure which way he'd go. After 5 years on the FLW Tour, he qualified to fish the 2011 Bassmaster Elite Series through the Bassmaster Southern Opens.

He declared this week and will fish the Elite Series next year. Keep in mind that he already has 2011 Bassmaster Classic and Forrest Wood Cup berths in hand.

Also notable is that Nate Wellman is officially in the Elites. There was never really a question, though. When Wellman won the Chesapeake Bay Northern Open this year, he said the only reason he fished it was to qualify for the Elites and there was no way he was going to pass up the opportunity.

Keith Combs and Craig Shuff will fish the Elites as well. They told BassFans that news previously.
