Aaron wins, gets Cup berth

It was an odd year for the FLW Outdoors AFS Series. Since its inception, the series – named EverStarts then Strens then AFS – hosted a championship. When the FLW Tour Championship became the Forrest Wood Cup and included qualifiers from lesser trails, AFS pros qualified via the (EverStart/Stren) Championship.

But this year, in order to help offset the difficult economic climate, the AFS instead hosted an Invitational and AFS pros qualified for the Cup via divisional points races. With one exception: The Invitational winner also received a Cup berth.

Pro Chad Aaron of Ethridge, Tenn. won the Invitational on Saturday at Wheeler with a 3-day total of 52-10. And he did it in dominating fashion, as he bested runner-up Kevin Snider by nearly 15 pounds. (Snider also finished 2nd at the 2008 BFL All-American.)

More about Aaron's win will be published soon.
