Miles "Sonar" Burghoff, a University of Central Florida student and aspiring pro angler who writes a regular column for BassFan, notched the biggest victory of his young career over the weekend as he obliterated the field at a BFL Gator Division Super Tournament at Florida's Lake Okeechobee.
Competing against a roster that included such renowned Sunshine State sticks as Mike Surman, Sandy Melvin and Arnie Lane, Burghoff amassed a 50-07 total over 2 days. Distant runner-up Gary Simpson had 40-11.
Burghoff has to get through a couple of college exams early this week, but he'll recount his triumph in a soon-to-be-published Sonar Soundoff column.
