Meyer clarifies GPS problem

Meyer clarifies GPS problem

Cody Meyer, who finished 2nd at the Forrest Wood Cup on Sunday, spoke with BassFan today and wanted to further clarify the electronics issue that cost him fishing time on the final day of Cup competition.

FLW Outdoors mandates that pros fish from FLW-supplied boats on the final "TV" day of competition. According to Meyer, the problem he encountered stemmed from how his particular TV boat was set up.

"My graphs played a huge role in my success at Lanier," Meyer told BassFan. "I used the StructureScan a ton in order to find the most productive brushpiles and see what they looked like from every angle so I could pick the sweet spot and line up my cast. Without the technology provided by Lowrance in the first place I wouldn't have had a shot at the Cup.

"My issue the last day was actually my internal GPS that ran through my trolling motor (transducer)," he added. "The last-day boats had their graphs all connected internally in the trolling motor. This is something I really recommend staying away from. Unfortunately, the problems resulted in the loss of quite some time. However, due to Lowrance's amazing support staff – and in particular Cheryl – I was able to get fishing again and never encountered another issue."
