Rick Clunn made a good run at it, but Cliff Pirch has emerged as the unofficial winner of the 2010 WON Bass U.S. Open. If the standings hold up when made official, Pirch will be crowned a two-time U.S. Open champ at tonight's awards banquet (when the official standings are announced).
Clunn unofficially finished 3rd, with Dick Watson in the runner-up position.
Also of note was a report by WON Bass on its tournament-coverage blog that the league had busted a "cheater" at the event. It's not known if the person in question is a co or pro. WON Bass features a shared-weight format, which would seemingly provide equal motive for a co or pro to cheat.
Allegedly, WON Bass found lead weights stuffed into fish 2 days in a row.
