ESPN's fishing shows

ESPN Outdoors today released details of its fishing programming for the first portion of 2010. The lineup is again noticeably light on freshwater.

A press release announcing the lineup also noted that ESPN2 will dedicate 11 hours of programming to the upcoming Bassmaster Classic – same as this year.

The shows that will air on the ESPN2 outdoors block next year include:

  • Pirates of the Flats – Hosted by Tom Brokaw
  • Spanish Fly – Jose Wejebe enters his 15th season, and with The Fishin' Hole no longer airing, it's the longest-running fishing show currently on ESPN2
  • ESPN Outdoors Saltwater Series – Coverage of ESPN's saltwater events, hosted by Wejebe
  • The Bassmasters – Coverage of the Bassmaster Elite Series hosted by Tommy Sanders and Mark Zona
  • Wanna Go Fishing? – One episode features Mike Ditka and Jimmy Johnson hosting the Billfish Bowl in Key Largo (begins in Q2)
  • World's Greatest Fishing Show – Zona's personal show
  • Beat Charlie Moore – The long-running show returns
  • Fishing Adventurer – Fishing/travel series with Cyril Chauquet
  • George Poveromo's World of Saltwater Fishing
  • Going Coastal – An inshore saltwater show hosted by Byron Velvick

In announcing the lineup, ESPN Outdoors senior director of programming and acquisitions Greg Trager said, "Every season, new ESPN Outdoors programming entices more sportfishing fans, whether they're drawn to the shows to learn and develop their own skills, or to relax and enjoy the action and adventure."
