OFM sets records

OutdoorsFan Media (OFM), a division of InterMedia Outdoors, Inc., today released its web traffic numbers through April of 2008, highlighting the tremendous growth in user engagement across its portfolio of outdoors-focused websites. In every month of 2008, OFM’s marquee sites – BassFan.com, BassFanArmy.com, InshoreFan.com and ShotgunFan.com – collectively have posted record page-view levels, with an all-time high in April of 2.6 million page views. The average monthly page views for the portfolio, at 2 million, are up 87% versus the period of January to April 2007, and average monthly unique visitors are up 8% to almost 100,000.

Major highlights include:

> 2.1 million page views in April, an all-time record for BassFan.com, up 135% versus 2007

> A 37% increase in median time spent per visit (over 4 minutes) on BassFanArmy.com; average monthly page views up 304% versus 2007

> A 143% increase in average monthly unique visitors on InshoreFan.com versus 2007; all-time record monthly unique visitors and monthly page views in January 2008

> All-time record levels of monthly unique visitors and monthly page views for ShotgunFan.com in March 2008

“Our sites aren’t necessarily popular with the casual outdoorsman, but they’re deemed nearly essential by hardcore enthusiasts who demand comprehensive and objective coverage of every aspect of their favorite fishing and shooting activities," said OFM general manager Jim Manry. "Our team’s commitment to that simple editorial objective has been the key to our success to date.”

Said InterMedia Outdoors VP Steve Hoffman: “We’re particularly excited about the opportunity our sites provide to leading advertisers. OFM not only delivers the market’s most actively engaged consumers, we also provide audited numbers that quantify the delivery of our sponsors’ marketing message.”

Consistent with its strategy of identifying core niches of passionate enthusiasts and providing them with unparalleled news and information, OFM launched WalleyeFan.com in February to tap into the unbridled enthusiasm of walleye anglers across the country. The site has quickly built a loyal audience, with a 22% increase in unique visitors in April.

To augment its position in the shooting space, the company is preparing to launch a new website at the end of this month, which will complement its existing hunting-shooting site, ShotgunFan.com.

“Our business model has already proven successful in every competitive fishing arena,” said Hoffman. "We’re confident that the combination of timely, compelling content and accountable advertising programs will also be immensely popular with gun enthusiasts and the entire shooting industry.”
