Arizona tour pro Cliff Pirch carried a relatively massive 3-pound lead into the final day of the WON Bass U.S. Open yesterday. He added 8.14 pounds to his total and won by a little less than 4 pounds. The win delivered a Ford F150 pickup, Ranger Z21 boat with a Mercury 225 Pro XS, plus $70,000 in cash.
"We left the door a little bit open," he said of his sub-10-pound catch.
Fellow Arizonan Shaun Bailey boxed 9.07 pounds on Wednesday and improved four spots to finish 2nd with 25.95.
Jamie Cyphers of Utah began the day in 2nd. His day-3 catch of 7.13 dropped him one spot and he finished 3rd.
California's Ken Cobb won the AAA division with a 3-day total of 26.10 pounds. The win earned him $29,500 in prizes.
