Minn Kota TerrovaTM and RiptideST trolling motors that are not currently equipped with AutoPilotTM technology can now be upgraded with the exclusive AutoPilot plug-in module.
"AutoPilot is one of our most popular features, and we know that consumers sometimes want to upgrade their motors as new technology is developed," Minn Kota senior product manager Dave Maryanov said. "Our engineers designed the AutoPilot plug-in module so it is an extremely easy do-it-yourself install."
AutoPilot utilizes a state-of-the-art compass system that locks onto a particular heading, and automatically and continuously makes adjustments to keep the boat moving in that specific direction. The system corrects for wind, waves and current.
To repeat a productive troll, at the end of a run simply rotate the motor head 180 degrees. AutoPilot will swing the boat around and take it back along the same course.
AutoPilot is ideal for trolling a shoreline, or along a current line or shelf ledge. It can also be used to "hover" over a designated position.
