Guido Hibdon's win Saturday at the Champlain Eastern FLW Series was significant for a lot of reasons. Most significant, probably, is the fact that it's his first notable win in 16 years.
It was his first FLW Outdoors win in 10 years of competition there. In terms of BASS, you have to search all the way back to the 1991 Florida (St. Johns) Bassmaster Invitational for his most recent victory.
The 1991 win delivered $34,000, while he pocketed $125,000 for his Champlain triumph.
Hibdon, one of the sport's true legends, is a 10-time Bassmaster Classic qualifier with one Classic win (1988). He also won back-to-back BASS Angler of the Year awards (1990-91).
The full details of his Champlain winning pattern will be published soon.
